Duncan Chisholm: Saturday 2 June: 8PM:
TICKETS: Early Bird £14 until 2 May / Full Price £16
One of the most recognised and accomplished fiddle players on the traditional scene; Duncan Chisholm presents music from his much-anticipated new album, Sandwood.
Subsequent to the success of his exquisite Strathglass Trilogy Duncan Chisholm has performed and toured his music in venues and festivals extensively throughout the U.K, Europe and North America. Having spent several years sharing his artistic representation of these majestic Highland Glens to the wider world, Duncan has embarked on a new journey, a pilgrimage in search of the next inspirational wild space.
Deeply moved and motivated by the experience of trekking wild in the North West Highlands, Duncan Chisholm has crafted beautiful soundscapes inspired by the light and colour of the changing seasons.
In this music you hear the sound of nature and the sound of the magnificent land around him, musical portraits of a world untouched by human hand.Inspired by the bay, which rightfully lays claim to hold the finest yet least accessible beach in Scotland, Sandwood is a natural masterpiece, a true paradise that sits within a basin of peatlands waiting to be discovered by those willing to trek wild.
Two years of imagining, writing and production have resulted in Duncan capturing this wild place musically and making it the focus of his latest album of fiddle music.
This concert will present Duncan’s live interpretation of what is believed to be one of the earliest inhabited areas of what came to be known as Scotland.
Duncan’s assembly of musical masterminds, Hamish Napier (keys / flute), Jarlath Henderson (uilleann pipes / whisltes) and Ali Hutton (guitar) bring cinematic sound and colour to this new music.
These musicians individually represent some of the finest talents on the traditional music scene and collectively, with Duncan, present the new sound of traditional Scotland. Enjoy the music…..
