Royal Northern Sinfonia: Ulverston International Music Festival

Royal Northern Sinfonia: Ulverston International Music Festival

Royal Northern Sinfonia: Ulverston International Music Festival: Friday 16 June: 7.30pm: Coronation Hall

Pianist Anthony Hewitt’s communicative performances have earned him critical acclaim worldwide as a recital, concerto soloist and chamber musician. He joins the Royal Northern Sinfonia as a soloist for Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor; one of the most well-known works for solo ppiano and orchestra and Grieg’s only Piano Concerto.

The Royal Northern Sinfonia have established themselves as the Ulverston International Music Festival’s Orchestra, returning annually to present inspirational performances of orchestral repertoire. Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony, also known as Pastoral Symphony, evokes a rural setting from the outset. From the initial marking of the first movement: ‘Awakening of cheerful feelings upon arrival in the countryside’; Beethoven proceeds to explore a series of pastoral scenes with a variety of orchestral colour.

this promises to be an exquisite evening, not to be missed.
