Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Statement from Coronation Hall as at 5pm Wednesday 29 April 2020

We at the Coronation Hall have a responsibility to our customers, staff and volunteers. Your best interests, health and well-being are important to us.  With that in mind, and in accordance with Public Health England guidance, we have temporaily closed our doors and are cancelling all scheduled public events and activities in the Coronation Hall until further notice.

As our staff are now furloughed, we have had to close the box office.   Tickets for events later in the year can still be purchased on our website – we will keep reviewing this as events and advice change.

With the high rate of enquiries we are experiencing, we ask for your patience and understanding whilst we manage this unexpected and impactful closure. We will be contacting all ticket holders in the week prior to events that are cancelled and are appealing to you to either donate your ticket price to help our venue through this difficult time or agree to transfer your ticket to a rescheduled date.  For any other enquiries, please email us at

The Coronation Hall is a charity managed for the community since 2016. We have been striving to make this a successful social enterprise to ensure this historic and beloved venue is available for all of Ulverston’s communities in the years to come. As a charity with limited funds we are reliant on income generated through hire of our spaces, ticket sales and sales through our bars, all of which cease today.   The coming weeks will be critical to us and we will be in need of support to help us through these exceptional circumstances.  We will be chasing support from any sources we can find in order to survive, but meanwhile any donations at this time will be most gratefully received – click here to donate.

We also know this is a challenging and worrying time for individuals, community groups and businesses across the country and indeed the world. People will be staying at home as per government guidance, services will be under pressure and small businesses and other charities will be struggling. So whilst we are busy investigating ways in which we can ensure The Coronation Hall survives this crisis, we are also investigating ways we can be of use to our local community, services and businesses in practical ways whilst we are unable to do business as usual.

The Coronation Hall is a community building in the heart of the town with a 100 years of civic engagement.  We are now working with public, private and community sectors to see if we can help with current and future challenges during these next phases.

If you have ideas of how The Coronation Hall might help, please get in touch with us.  Please email, message us our Facebook page or Tweet us with any of your ideas and we will establish an action plan in the coming days.

We may not be open for normal business, but we still hope to play our part in the community.

*If you have booked any spaces at the Hall, we will be in touch with you directly.

We wish you all well.
