Eduardo Niebla – Flamenco Jazz Virtuoso – with Matthew Robinson (guitar)

Eduardo Niebla – Flamenco Jazz Virtuoso – with Matthew Robinson (guitar)

Eduardo Niebla – Flamenco Jazz Virtuoso – with Matthew Robinson (guitar): Thursday 27 July: 7.30pm: £15 / £13 Concessions

As winter is finally over what could be better to invigorate the soul than a brilliant live performance by the Spanish guitarist and composer Eduardo Niebla, who embarks on tour with his exhilarating mix of flamenco jazz fusion.  This is really a shorthand to the wealth of influences that resonate from his guitar from his collaborations with musicians from around the globe, but one thing for sure is that it’s exquisite guitar playing of the highest level.

The tour starts this Saturday (29th April) at the brilliant Feile na Bealtaine Festival in Dingle, followed by concerts in rural Lincolnshire (13 May), Ludlow (28th June), The Gaiety Ayr (29th June), Theatr Gwaun Fishguard (21st July), Waterside Arts Centre Sale (24th July), Coronation Hall Ulverston (27th July), Gairloch Scottish Highlands (29 July), Eden Court Theatre Inverness (30 July), Seall Arts Isle of Skye (31 July) and Ardfern in the Scottish Highlands on 1st August.  Accompanying Eduardo are guitarists Matthew Robinson / Daniel Lopez Martinez. (See full details below)

This tour gives Eduardo an opportunity to preview music from his highly anticipated new album, which he is now recording at his North Yorkshire studios, as well as his back catalogue spanning four decades.  All a far cry from his early childhood in Tangiers Morocco and Girona Spain where he grew up, the 7th of 11 children.  And musically too Eduardo has always been moving on; starting out learning flamenco on the streets, then through his teenage years exploring jazz and symphonic rock where he hit stardom with his cult band Atila. And this curiosity to explore led to Eduardo’s move to London in the late 70s where he performed with Mother Gong at Glastonbury and worked with Tom Newman producer. Since then he has collaborated with musicians across the globe including: sitar maestro Nishat Khan, the late Lol Coxhill (sax), Palestinian oud player Adel Salameh, trance phenomenon Juno Reactor and pop musicians George Michael & Craig David.  And latterly Eduardo has been working with the Dante and Pavao String Quartets and local choirs on new works with a distinctly classical vibe, so the creativity continues.

In this world of changing times the power of music to connect is a wonderful thing so catch Eduardo Niebla in concert and expect to be moved.
